Not only has the state of Wisconsin taken notice of the pickup, but also some in Florida, like Jacksonville Sandalwood cornerback Chris Jones, who was one of the handful of players that Gillins reached out to following his Badgers commitment.
"D.J. has told me that Wisconsin is a very supportive team and I like that," Jones told Badger Nation. "We are like brothers and its good he gets to play where he fits in. I'm going to have to make a decision on where to play at when the time comes, but it would be pretty cool to play with him.
The 6-0, 170-pound Jones claims offers from Florida International, Indiana, Massachusetts, Middle Tennessee, Purdue and South Florida among others. After talking to Gillins, Jones is hoping to have a dialogue with the Badgers coaches.
"I do have very much interest in them," said Jones. "I don't know too much about them, but I do know that they are a good football program, have great coaches and have a competitive atmosphere."
With his growing offer list, Jones is looking to start seeing some of these schools to determine who fits the best with him.
"I'm going to take visits, but I don't know where yet," said Jones. "I'm going to decide in the middle of the season or sooner. God and I will look for a team who needs me and a team where I fit in will be how I decide on that perfect school."
