Indispensable Badger #11

Counting down the days to Wisconsin opens the regular season, Badger Nation's new summer feature will rank the 50 most indispensable players of the 2013 Wisconsin football team. Today we reveal No.11.

Peniel Jean

Position: Cornerback

Experience: Redshirt Junior

2012 Stats: Recorded one tackle and broke up one pass in the Big Ten Championship game against Nebraska on Dec. 1 ... saw action at Penn St on Nov. 24, against Ohio State on Nov. 17, at Indiana on Nov. 10, at Purdue on Oct. 13.

Strengths: Jean is a physical corner that is not afraid to contest any ball thrown towards him. He also has a great tackling ability that will really pay off against running backs.

Weaknesses: Jean is not the quickest cornerback out there, so when it comes to elite wideouts, Jean will have a tougher time keeping up with them. His recovering ability is also sub-par so he will need to work on that as well.

Overall: Being the lone cornerback with any experience, Jean will need to step it up more than ever this season. His experience at the collegiate level will help out the younger corners, but it will be a waiting game for the Badgers. Jean has incredible tackling abilities which, when combined with his aggressiveness, will frustrate opposing receivers. If it wasn't for a broken foot at the conclusion of last year's camp, Jean would have had a bigger role within the defense.

Look for Jean to be a dominant force in the secondary for the Badgers this season. He will need to step it up in order for the Badger corners to have any success.

Up Next: With a change in formation, the role of our No.10 player will be bigger than ever in 2013
