Indispensable Badger #8

Counting down the days to Wisconsin opens the regular season, Badger Nation's new summer feature will rank the 50 most indispensable players of the 2013 Wisconsin football team. Today we reveal No.8.

Ryan Groy

Position: Left Tackle

Experience: Redshirt Senior

2012 Stats: Started all 14 games last season.

Strengths: Groy is surprisingly quick and has NFL-like instincts that will work wonders for the Badgers this season. His size cannot go unnoticed as he can use it to his advantage.

Weaknesses: Groy sometimes lacks consistency. Certain games he will play great, while other games he will admit to playing sub-par. Look for Groy to become more consistent this season.

Overall: With a 6-5, 320-pound frame, Groy is the "typical" Badgers offensive lineman. His surprising speed and aggressiveness will set him apart from opposing defenders. Even though he is transitioning between positions, he will make an immediate impact on the left side.

Look for Groy to protect the quarterback and running backs throughout the season as he will likely be the starter at left tackle. Look for Groy to become more significant and consistent as the season goes on.

Up Next: Our No.7 player carries a lot of intangibles, but is fighting for a starting spot. Regardless, he's important to UW's long-term success
