"I didn't really know too much about them, but after I got the offer, I was watching their highlights and I like the defense, they're real up-tempo, and that's how I like to play," he said.
Howard is just getting started with his recruitment, but the 5-foot-10, 170-pound standout said coaches like his aggressive style.
"They like that I'm a leader and I play fast and physical," he said.
Oviedo (Fla.) has stared off the season 3-0 and Howard is enjoying the team's success so far.
"I think it's going really well, I don't like how (other teams) keep the ball away from me. They look at me like I'm one of the top corners, so they don't really throw the ball at me too much," he said.
While that's a compliment, it's a bit boring for the physical corner. South Florida, West Virginia, Penn, and Florida State have all shown some interest in Howard. Moving forward, he especially hopes to pick up offers from South Florida and UCF.
"USF, I don't know, I just like them. They're real fast and physical and that's the way I like to play," he said.
"(UCF is) just close, and I don't want to go too far and I know a lot of people that play for them too."
In the meantime, he's focused on improving his game this season.
"I would like to be more physical. I play off more, but I want to get more physical," he said.
