While Heurtelou was preparing for an away game that upcoming weekend at Mesa Community College on Saturday, September 14, he had some surprise visitors before he left.
"The Wisconsin coaches came out to my practice when they were here to play Arizona State, and that was the first time I had heard from them," Heurtelou told Badger Nation. "When I first heard, I was like, "wow, they really made me an offer?" I was extremely surprised. It came out of nowhere."
The 6-4, 295-pound athlete has nine other offers, which include Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Miami (Fl), Missouri, Oregon State, Rutgers, Tennessee and Texas State. All of which the three-star recruit was not surprised by. But Wisconsin's offer seemed to come from out of nowhere.
Although Heurtelou was taken aback by the offer, it doesn't mean he's not interested in what the Badgers program has to offer.
"The fact that they've been winning for the past three years and are known for going to Rose Bowls is definitely appealing," said Heurtelou. "This year the system is different with a new coaching staff so it looks a little rough to me at times, but overall they're a consistent program."
After the surprise visit from offensive line coach T.J. Woods and other Wisconsin coaches, Heurtelou refuses to count any schools out. In fact, he's hoping more offers come his way.
Heurtelou is planning to take his five official visits starting in November. He is still unsure on his top list, but he is certain on his future.
"This has always been the plan to eventually play at the college level," said Heurtelou. "My family is excited about how far I have come especially with receiving these offers. They are really proud, but we were confident I would get some offers.
"Again, I was not surprised with most of my offers, but Wisconsin really was the biggest surprise."
