Baker Excited About Wisconsin Offer

Already with an impressive offer list from some of the Big Ten's best schools, Cleveland (OH) Benedictine junior outside linebacker Jerome Baker admitted that one offer missing that he really wanted was from Wisconsin. On Tuesday, his wait was over.

While Wisconsin is looking to finish off its 2014 recruiting class strong, the Badgers are working ahead to 2015 and have offered one of the best linebackers in the Midwest with Cleveland (OH) Benedictine junior outside linebacker Jerome Baker.

"I found out about the Wisconsin offer from Coach Genyk when he told me that I had gotten an offer from Wisconsin," Baker told BadgerNation. "It is kind of cool because I was talking to my dad about offers and Wisconsin was one I didn't have that I wanted. Now that I have one, I am pretty excited. I wasn't expecting this offer today at all, but I am excited."

"What I know from the few games I have watched of Wisconsin is that they are very physical and know how to play good football. They play very hard and when you play Wisconsin, you got to be ready to play boy."

The leading recruiter for the Badgers in Baker's recruitment has been tight end/special teams coach Jeff Genyk, who has made quite a bond with the talented 6-1, 205-pound linebacker early on.

"We have been communicating on Facebook for awhile now, so this wasn't my first time talking to Coach Genyk," said Baker. "He keeps me updated on things and I just really like talking to him. Now that I have an offer, I love to meet him and see how he is face to face."

With this latest offer, the No. 7 outside linebacker and four-star recruit by Scout.com has 16 total offers and is enjoying every second of his recruitment so far.

"I enjoy every bit of my recruitment," said Baker. "The phone calls, interviews, my family asking about it. I mean I just love it all to be honest with you. I am currently working on having a top list and will have it by my senior season. It will probably be a top 10."

"Now that Wisconsin has offered, I really want to go up there and see what it is like. If I go up there and love it, then of course they would be in my top list. I am trying to work with my dad with his schedule on when to visit Wisconsin with him, but it will probably be more in the spring time."

It is no surprise Wisconsin offered Baker because as he explains, his game comes with a tough mindset and play.

"I play the game with power," said Baker. "I am tough, athletic, hard nose type of player that will make plays for you. I just love the game and love getting better at it."

Baker also claims BCS offers from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and West Virginia.
