Holland Considering Wisconsin Official

With Wisconsin coming in with a scholarship offer Thursday, Ashburn (VA) Briar Woods senior wide receiver Melvin Holland is considering using one of his final official visits to check out Madison.

Missing out on Virginia Beach (VA) Bishop Sullivan Catholic wide receiver Jamil Kamara and still interested in adding another wide receiver in the 2014 recruiting class, Wisconsin has shifted its attention to another Virginia pass catcher with time winding down until signing day, officially offering Ashburn (VA) Briar Woods senior wide receiver Melvin Holland Thursday.

"Coach Beatty came to my school this morning and that was the first time I met him in person," Holland told BadgerNation. "We were talking about the school in Wisconsin and he told that I had an offer. I was glad (because) Wisconsin is a really good school and has a good football program. I just can't believe I am getting the offers I am getting.

"Coach Beatty is a cool dude. He is straight forward and he told me everything off the top of his head. No sugarcoats or nothing. I like that he is straight forward kind of guy and down-to-earth dude. As far as Wisconsin goes, I don't know that much about them, but I know about this good past season and how they lost their best wide receiver. I also know they have a good education school and it is a little far and little cold, but nothing different from Minnesota."

The 6-4, 216-pound wide receiver is the No. 127 ranked wide out in the nation and a three-star recruit by Scout.com, but has seen his recruitment sky rocket recently. Not only did he pick up an offer from Wisconsin, but Wake Forest and Boston College as well. He explains that those three will be fighting for his last official visit and how tough this decision will be.

"I am trying to plan a visit to Wisconsin with my dad when he gets off of work," said Holland. "I will be either going to Wisconsin, Boston College or Wake Forest on the 24th. I still got to decide who I want to take an official visit to on that weekend. I am going to Minnesota this weekend and I might be going to Rutgers on the 31st, but that is still in the air. That is really about it as far as my official visits go along with the 24th date.

"I mean I have thought about trying to have a top list but every time I think I have my mind set, I have new offers come. It is a blessing I even have an option to go to college because I was talking to one of my friends and he wishes he could even get just one offer, so it is a blessing. I know my decision will be a tough choice, but I know I will make the right choice for me."

When the time comes to make a decision, what will be the factors he will be considering and how soon will be decision be coming?

"The main things I am looking for in a school would be education," said Holland. "That is the top thing and for me. I want to study physical therapy, so I want to do something in that field. The second thing would be living conditions, like how far away from home I am. I mean will I be able to see my family because I got an 8-year-old little brother and want to see him. Last one would be basically how I fit into the school like how I fit into the team, how much I will play and stuff like that. I just want to feel like I can spend four or five years at this place.

"Hopefully, I will be able to make a decision before Signing Day, but it might be hard with these new offers. I will just have to wait and see. I want to make a quick decision, but not too quick."
