Badgers Host Local Sophomore

Monona Grove (Wisc.) running back Toren Young has a chance to be one of the top class of 2016 prospects in the state and he visited Wisconsin recently.

When asked which schools he is hearing from right now, Monona Grove sophomore running back Toren Young says "not too many."

Ask him again next spring and that answer is likely to change. Already with great size (6'0, 205), he rushed for 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, the first in which he saw heavy varsity minutes.

"My freshman year I did kick return for varsity," he says, "so I knew the game speed a little bit. Last year, starting off, I was nervous. It was a weird adjustment. Everything is faster at thevarsity level, but I came in and was pretty comfortable after the first couple games."

Northern Iowa and nearby Wisconsin have shown early interest. The Badgers signed his teammate Jaden Gault in their 2014 class and have had Young up to campus.

"I visited Wisconsin for a spring practice. It was a great experience seeing the college level, seeing the game speed, and watching college guys get after it and also being able to see the weight room and the whole facility. It was a great experience."

It also allowed him to begin a relationship with the staff.

"I got to talk to Coach Brown, the running backs coach. He wants me to follow up with him and get to more visits, get to know him and send him film."

Young says he will do some college camps this summer but is not sure which yet.
