While UW has yet to secure a verbal commitment from Beatty's main recruiting state, he continues to evaluate the high-level kids and offer some who are under the radar, like Stafford (VA) Colonial Forge junior wide receiver Gary Jennings.
"I was expecting Wisconsin to come to the school for a couple of weeks, so it was only a matter of time before they offered," Jennings told BadgerNation. "I was elated when I got the offer. Wisconsin is a big time program that I see on TV regularly, which I think is pretty cool, but Coach Beatty broke the news to me."
Having had a hand in bringing five wide receivers to Wisconsin in the 2014 signing class and having coaches some impression players in his tenure (like Percy Harvin when Beatty was a high school coach in the state), the 6-2, 190-pound Jennings was impressed with Beatty' resume.
"That was my first time speaking with him, but he basically gave me his track record with the great receivers he's had in the past," said Jennings. "He also just talked to me a little about making right decision for me and not just based on just coaches and etc. He seems like a very down to earth guy and a good coach with a resume to prove that. I am very interested in them."
Having attended the same school as former UW quarterback Russell Wilson and cheering for Wilson during his different playing stops, Jennings is anxious to check out Madison where Wilson jumped on to the national stage.
"I would like to take a visit there very soon, but I don't have a finalized date yet," said Jennings. "I look forward to getting up to Madison soon."
Still working on building a list of top schools, Jennings will be attending Kentucky's spring game on Saturday.
