Six prospects from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are the owners of new Nevada offers.
Half of those targets have come from the same school: Coppell, a perennial big-school power in the state that regularly produces FBS-caliber talent, such as 2014 Stanford defensive end signee Solomon Thomas.
Nevada has offered 2015 running back Charles West, 2015 defensive back Jacob Murray (pictured above), and 2015 defensive end Chris Biggurs, according to Coppell head coach Mike DeWitt, who has tweeted the news of the offers this week.
Nevada is the third offer for the 5-foot-9, 178-pound West, who also has offers from Arkansas State and Texas Tech. West is a smaller, speedier back who recorded an impressive 4.49-second 40 at the April 5 Dallas Nike Football Training Camp at DeSoto High School.
Murray's Nevada offer gives the 6-foot-1, 194-pounder two offers along with UTSA. Murray is projected for now as a cornerback, which is where he plays for Coppell, but has a bigger frame that could allow him to move to safety.
Biggurs added Nevada to his Iowa State, Rice, and Texas State offers. Biggurs, who measured 6-foot-1, 240 pounds at the aforementioned Dallas NFTC, has also gotten interest from Texas Tech, which is where his father played.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Barr is a versatile player for Marcus, which has used him at defensive tackle and multiple spots on the offensive line, which is where we believe he best fits. Barr won Offensive Line MVP honors from Scout.com at the late January Next Level Athlete camp in Dallas.
Jennings is a 6-foot, 280-pounder playing tackle for DeSoto who projects to the interior at the next level. The 6-foot, 190-pound Orr has football in his bloodlines. His other offer from North Texas makes a lot of sense considering older brother Zach Orr just finished an all-conference career for the Mean Green before signing a rookie free agent deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
UPDATE: DeSoto 2015 receiver Akile Davis tweeted that he had also picked up a Nevada offer at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday to account for the Wolfpack's seventh offer in DFW so far this week. Davis now has seven offers. Don't be surprised to see more Nevada offers go out Wednesday evening and the rest of the week.
