Vanderbilt is the most recent school to offer Dominic Sheppard. The Commodores join a long list of programs on his offer list, including Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Miami, Alabama, Ohio State, and Tennessee. While all of the attention is great for Sheppard, he's not really thinking too much about his recruitment right now.
"Yes it's exciting, but I'm just focused on spring and getting better," he said.
"I'm just open right now."
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker doesn't have any favorites at this time, but he was excited about the recent Vanderbilt offer.
"What got my attention was Vanderbilt because they believe I have the academics to excel at their school. That was really exciting," he said.
Sheppard and his Miami (Fla.) Gulliver teammates will take a trip this summer and see a long list of schools.
While a lot of the exact destinations are still up in the air, Auburn and Alabama are also likely on the list. Notre Dame is a possibility too.
"If I don't (see Notre Dame this summer), I'll see it in fall, because they'll be in my five officials," Sheppard said.
"Notre Dame, it's a good program. I don't know much about them, all I know is it's in the cold, and I'm a Miami guy, so I don't know about that yet."
The hometown Miami Hurricanes are certainly in the race for Sheppard too. At the end of the day, he says there will be two main factors in his decision.
"(They need to both) worry about my academics and how they're going to make me better," he said.
