Commitment Impact: Brevin Pritzl

Needing to add a guard to fill the role of a Ben Brust or a Jason Bohannon, Wisconsin stayed in state and secured a verbal commitment from De Pere junior Brevin Pritzl. BadgerNation examines the commitment impact.

Committed Over: Brevin Pritzl committed to Wisconsin over offers from Creighton, Drake, Green Bay, Marquette, Milwaukee, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Xavier.

Rated: Pritzl is currently a three-star prospect by, but will likely get bumped up to a four-star player and be nationally ranked at the next update.

On Film: This is a big pickup for Wisconsin. I have seen Pritzl multiple times this spring and there is no doubt he is one of the best scorers in the country. Some are going to look at Pritzl and call him just a shooter, but he is way more than that. Pritzl is as tough as they come and he is a very good athlete as well. At the end of the day he is a scorer who happens to be a great shooter, and not the other way around which makes him dangerous to try and stop. – National Recruiting Analyst Brian Snow

Recruiting Impact: Wisconsin has five scholarships available for 2015, so the Badgers coaching staff has a lot of work to do. Getting two guards is high on the priority list with the Badgers losing Josh Gasser and Traevon Jackson, and Pritzl fits a need that UW was looking for as a two guard, especially since Minneapolis De La Salle guard Jarvis Johnson is a natural point guard.

Wisconsin is sitting well with a number of four-star prospects, including Henry Ellenson and Josh Sharma, that this could be the start of a standout recruiting class for Bo Ryan.

Quotable: "Growing up I've always been kind of a Badgers fan. Living in Wisconsin, between the Badgers and Marquette, I've always been a Badger fan. Thinking about that and with what the coaches want me to come in and do when I get there, plus the academic side which I really like about Madison, ultimately I thought that this was the decision that was best to me."

Final Thought: Keeping in-state players in state, especially the ones with a high ceiling, are outstanding PR for the UW program. For a player just scratching the surface of his potential, this is a solid grab for Ryan and Co.
