2015 Focus: Wide Receivers

BadgerNation breaks down which wide receivers Wisconsin is looking at in the 2015 class, and where the Badgers stand with them.

With a lot of Wisconsin offers out for the 2015 class, we examine which positions the Badgers need to concentrate on in the next recruiting cycle.

We examine the receivers question. Barring attrition and transfers in the next year this is what the class would look like when the 2015 class would come in.

Seniors: Jordan Fredrick

Juniors: Alex Erickson, Reggie Love, Rob Wheelwright

Sophomores: Natrell Jamerson, Chris Jones, Jazz Peavy, George Rushing, Krenwick Sanders, Dareian Watkins

Freshman: Unknown

Because of the Badgers adding five wide receivers in 2014, Wisconsin has told recruits they are likely adding only one wide receiver target in 2015. Andrew James, who committed to Wisconsin this spring, could eventually slot into a receiver role, but he is targeted as more of a return specialist currently.

So who is still out there for the Badgers in 2015?

Top Targets

Offers: Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, among others.

UW's Chances: One of the premier players in Michigan, Cole has kept his recruitment very close to the chest. Cole is looking at many schools, including the Michigans and Ohio State, but could visit Wisconsin in the summer with some of his teammates.

Offers: Arizona, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, among others.

UW's Chances: Being recruited by some schools at both quarterback and receiver, Davis (pictured above) plans to take some official visits before making his decision. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda said Davis was the top receiver on UW's board and Davis said he had high interest in them following the offer.

Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Louisville and Virginia, among others.

UW's Chances: Auburn, Clemson and Georgia are considered the front runners currently for Stanley, who could make his decision this summer. Stanley has eyes on visiting Wisconsin because of his relationship with UW running back coach Thomas Brown.

Offers: Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Miami, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia, among others.

UW's Chances: Alexander has said recently that he has no favorites, but mentioned that Wake Forest, Boston College, Northwestern and Wisconsin and were recruiting him the hardest. Alexander wants to take all five official visits, and Wisconsin should get one of them.

Offers: Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Missouri, Virginia, Virginia Tech, among others.

UW's Chances: A big fan of Russell Wilson, Davis took a shine to Wisconsin when the Badgers offered him in late February. Two months later, Davis still has intentions to visit the Badgers, although no date has been set. Miami will also be a player in his recruitment.

Offers: California, Duke, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri, Purdue, Rutgers, South Florida, Temple, Wake Forest, West Virginia, among others.

UW's Chances: Jackson claims no current favorites but was excited by the Wisconsin offer because D.J. Gillins and him are good friends that live close to another.

Offers: Marshall, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin

UW's Chances: Like Davis, Jennings is a big Russell Wilson fan and feels that he could fit in with the type of offense the Badgers like to run. Jennings has said he wants to see Wisconsin and West Virginia as soon as possible.

Offers: Fresno State, Nevada, Washington State and Wisconsin

UW's Chances: Planning on visiting all the schools who have currently extended him a scholarship offer, Lee hopes to visit Wisconsin this summer and is excited about the school's business program.

Long Shots

Offers: Kirk has over 40 offers from coast to coast.

UW's Chances: Kirk said Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia, Oregon State, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC are recruiting him the hardest. Kirk has made no mention of Wisconsin coming to visit him or vice versa.

Offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida State, Iowa, Kansas State, Louisville, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, among others.

UW's Chances: Ofodile has taken a number of visits, such as to Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. He took multiple trips to Missouri, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. He'll come out with a top 10 later this summer, and it is unknown if UW will make the cut.

Offers: Alabama, California, Illinois, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas, among others.

UW's Chances: Strickland has narrowed his list or committed to taking a visit to Wisconsin, but did acknowledge that the Badgers are bringing in some impressive quarterbacks who would be fun to play with.

Offers: Arizona State, California, Colorado, Fresno State, Utah, Washington, among others.

UW's Chances: Kelly's brother is a defensive back at Washington and the younger Kelly is really high on the Huskies.
