LB to visit Badgers

Coming off a stellar camp performance with the Hurricanes Nick Thomas is set to visit Wisconsin.

Nick Thomas is a linebacker prospect from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy in southwest Florida. He recently had a great camp at the University of Miami. There, he was named the MVP of his position.

"That was fun and real cool," Thomas said. "I really like their linebacker coach and defensive coordinator a lot. They are nice guys who teach some of the same things that the coaches at IMG do. So it was easy for me to show out and do my thing there.

"I did have to leave early so I didn't get a chance to talk to any of the coaches about where I stand."

In the middle of last month, Thomas received his first scholarship offer from the Badgers. He leaves tomorrow to visit Wisconsin unofficially.

"I am going up there by myself for just the day," Thomas said. "I am anxious to see everything and meet the coaches, some of the players and see their facilities. I am sure everything will be great. Then I am coming right back here."

Thomas, 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, may also visit Kansas when he goes back home for a few days to Concordia, Kansas.

"I would like to camp there or at least visit them," Thomas said. "It's near the airport and I am about three hours away. So I may time it up with when I come home.

"Duke is another school that is showing me interest that I would like to check out but I really don't know if that will happen yet."

Last week Thomas also received a scholarship offer from Hawaii. He's hoping his family will take a family vacation out there so he can make an unofficial visit. What recruit wouldn't?

"I am trying," Thomas said. "We have actually been talking about it."
