Expecting a mass exodus of secondary players over the next two seasons, Wisconsin’s coaching staff is tracking down and identifying some of the best athletes to improve the depth on the back end.
Already securing a pair of commitments from defensive backs in 2015, the Badgers are staying active in the fertile recruiting state of Florida and would like to secure Oviedo (FL) High cornerback Terry Howard.
The Badgers remain his only offer, but Howard said he is close to offer from Robert Morris and has communication pick up with Georgia Southern, Kentucky and South Florida. Still, Wisconsin remains a favorite.
“My recruitment has been okay,” Howard told BadgerNation. “I haven’t been contacted by Wisconsin recently, (but) I am most definitely interested in them. I would love to visit them.”
The 5-10, 170-pound three-star corner has expressed serious interest in the Badgers and one reason is because he thinks his game gel well with their 3-4 defense.
“I’m a defensive player, so I like the way their defense is a real tempo and fast pace defense and their defensive backs are clinked up 24-7,” said Howard. “I absolutely do think my game would fit in because I can play them man-to-man and really get in the receiver. I can also sneak some zone in as well as they like to do.”
While Howard hasn’t narrowed anything down yet, he knows Wisconsin will be in it.
“I don’t have a top list at the moment, but Wisconsin will definitely be in my top,” said Howard. “I would love to bring some Florida talent up to Wisconsin.”
