Offense or defense?

Jalen Julius is a two-way standout for West Orange high school as a cornerback and wide receiver.

Things are up in the air for former Gator commitment Jalen Julius (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange). He was hoping to play on offense in Gainesville because he wants to be a wide receiver in college. But Florida and Will Mushcamp want him on defense.

”He’s a kid that wants to play on offense and wants to be a wide receiver,” said Bob Head, West Orange’s coach. “He can play on offense. But honestly, he’s one of the best defensive backs that I have ever seen. I think he could be in the NFL one day playing in the secondary. But he doesn’t want to play on defense. He wants to be an offensive guy.”

Julius,5-foot-11, 175-pounds, visited Louisville this summer and the Cardinals are one of a few teams like Ole Miss, Miami, UCF and Wisconsin that stand out.

”I am not sure what Jalen will do in the end,” Head said. “He likes a few schools now like Ole Miss and Louisville but someone will give him that opportunity [to play on offense]. He’s too fast and too athletic.”

Julius is a three-star prospect and the No. 70 ranked wide receiver in the nation.
