Brown Still After Lamar

Looking to build momentum in state of Georgia, Wisconsin running back coach Thomas Brown is targeting one of the state's top 2016 prospects in Rosewell (GA) outside linebacker Tre Lamar, who has already visited Madison.

Quickly becoming one of the top prospects in Georgia for the 2016 recruiting cycle, Rosewell outside linebacker Tre Lamar has seen his recruitment heat up over the summer. Holding a dozen offers, including some from the top southern schools in the country, Lamar is listening to many schools, including Wisconsin and running backs coach Thomas Brown.

“Coach Brown told me to try to get back up to see the college again this next summer and the relationship is pretty good,” Lamar told Badger Nation. “I’m interested in Wisconsin because of their strong academics and their coaches. I’m not sure if I will visit them (soon), but if I can, then it would be next summer. I had a great time at my last visit to Wisconsin.”

Lamar visited Wisconsin in the beginning of June, spending time with Brown, head coach Gary Andersen and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. Since then he visited Clemson and says the Tigers, along with Alabama and Vanderbilt, are talking to him the most.

The 6-3, 230-pound four-star linebacker sits as the No. 24 ranked outside linebacker by While he plans to make some unofficial visits during the season, Lamar currently is preparing for a huge season and has a lofty goal he is hoping to achieve.

“I’m very excited for the season and my goals for this season are getting 100 plus tackles,” said Lamar. “I would say that I’m a run stopper, who can play sideline to sideline, but I need to improve on my pass dropping skills. I will look to have a big year for sure.”
