Sabel Impressed with UW

Lomira (WI) defensive end Colin Sabel has the goal of getting to play for the University of Wisconsin, a desire that grew even larger following his unofficial visit Saturday.

A lot of in-state visitors made on campus to see Wisconsin’s home opener against Western Illinois. One of those local kids was Lomira junior defensive end Colin Sabel who left walking away impressed.

“The visit was great,” Sabel told BadgerNation. “I got to have breakfast and talk to some of the coaches. We took a tour of the weight room and proceeded on to the field while the team warmed up. I talked to Coach Chad (Kauaha’aha’a) and Coach (Ben) Strickland. They asked how my team was doing and how I was doing as an individual.”

While the 6-4, 220-pound aggressive defensive end has gotten the attention of many schools during the first week they can contact juniors, he still has had Wisconsin on the back of his mind.

During his visit, he got to experience a lot, but the highlight of his trip was seeing a Badgers’ 37-3 win at the end of the day.

“My favorite part was watching the Badgers win,” said Sabel. “I love Wisconsin and hopefully that will be me out there with the team someday.”
