With three-star tailback Davon Crookshank (Missouri City, TX) already in the mix for the 2015 recruiting class, Wisconsin has made it clear in recent weeks that they want to add another talented tailback to the fold.
Wauwatosa (WI) West senior running back Demaris Purifoy is quietly putting together a solid offer list and has had a good start to his senior season, having rushed for 526 yards and 10 touchdowns through the team’s first three games.
Getting invited up to Wisconsin’s home opener on Saturday, the 6-2, 185-pound Purifoy knows he has a good chance to impress the coaching staff over the next several weeks.
“I talked with Coach Ben Strickland and we spoke about academics, staying focused on my senior year and how they will be honest with me about where I stand recruiting wise for them,” Purifoy told BadgerNation. “He said that I am one of his top 15 recruits and that he is planning on coming to one of my games in a couple of weeks.”
Purifoy claims offers from Illinois State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois and Wyoming. He is also receiving interest from Iowa State, Northern Illinois, New Mexico and Michigan State.
As nice as those options are, Purifoy works daily to hopefully earn a shot to play in his home state at Wisconsin.
"Wisconsin is recruiting me as a running back,” said Purifoy. “I would describe myself as a speedy one-cut back and agile when I need to be. I am highly interested in Wisconsin. I would love to go there especially being an instate kid”
“They have an amazing team. I like the emphasis and the support around the academics for the student-athletes. I love the campus, and the coaches seem really personable and focused on their players. It was an amazing game day experience.”
Purifoy doesn’t have any more upcoming visits set at this time.
