One of Wisconsin’s biggest defensive targets left on the 2015 recruiting board is Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei defensive tackle Olive Sagapolu. Looking to set an official visit to Madison with high school teammate and Badgers tight end commit Kyle Penniston, the duo locked down a date for when the Badgers host Maryland for Homecoming.
“My mom gave Coach Chad a call about the information and we set it for the 25th of October,” Sagapolu told BadgerNation. “I wanted to set it up and wanted to go with Kyle. I’m very excited to go to Wisconsin. It is my first time going to Wisconsin. I’m happy I’m going with Kyle because he can tell me about the college.”
The 6-2, 290-pound prospect has been bonding and growing his relationship with Coach Chad Kauha’aha’a behind the Polynesian connection they hold with each other.
“My relationship with Coach Chad is good,” said Sagapolu. “It is that Polynesian love I think. Polynesians are close and I think that is what we have. I believe that he has that Ohana spirit and that is something I like.”
Rated as a three-star prospect and the No.63 defensive tackle in the county by Scout.com, Sagapolu has also scheduled an official visit to Washington State – his only other offer from a power five conference – for October 3.
“I don’t got a top list,” said Sagapolu. “I’m just looking for the feeling of home. I want that Ohana spirit.”
