Throughout the recruiting process Oak Creek (WI) senior safety Elijah Strong has stressed his position on staying in-state and playing for Wisconsin. The 6-0, 170-pound defensive back felt early and often a deep passion to play in front of his friends and family. After a visit to Madison this past weekend, Strong has got the shot now after secondary coach Ben Strickland extended him a preferred walk-on offer.
“I just talked to Coach (Ben) Strickland about where we stand and experienced the game atmosphere,” Strong told BadgerNation. “He talked to me about a preferred walk on and said he would call me later this week to discuss all the details. I’ve dreamed about playing at Wisconsin for a while and being at the game and seeing the atmosphere only made that feeling stronger.”Currently holding an offer to Air Force, Strong still has visits planned to Air Force and Iowa State and plans to wait until the end of the season to commit. With a preferred walk-on spot at Wisconsin, Strong knows it will be hard to turn it away after how his game day experience went.
”Overall it is just a great place to play,” said Strong. “Coach Andersen is a great guy, the fans are great and into the game. Coach Strickland has always been a favorite coach of mine. I just really enjoyed the school as a whole.”
