Anticipated to be one of the biggest recruiting weekends in Madison this season, Wisconsin will host six official visitors for its home game against South Florida this weekend with the hope to reel in a commitment or two. The best possible candidate to join the fold is Seffner (FL) Armwood senior middle linebacker Jordan Griffin, who has maintained a high interest in Wisconsin for several weeks.
“I am really excited actually to get my parents up there and see Wisconsin,” Griffin told BadgerNation. “I am ready to get up there and experience game day in Madison. I am most excited to get to experience game day. That is probably the biggest thing for me and I have heard it is one of the best atmospheres in the country, so I am just looking forward to seeing how things go.”
Wisconsin has been locked on the 6-0, 210-pound three-star linebacker and lead for his services. A big reason the Badgers sit at the top of the leaderboard for the No. 44 ranked middle linebacker is the strong relationship he has built over time with defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.
“I just talked to Coach Aranda the other night for about 15 or 20 minutes,” said Griffin. “We have a great relationship and we pretty much talk after every game I play, so we got a great relationship. I have been following Wisconsin this season (and) they have been doing really well. That game against LSU came down to the last minute and I felt they should have won that game, but things happened. They are having a great season so far.”
Many feel that Griffin could pull the trigger while on his official visit, and Griffin admits that is a definite option, but doesn’t mean it is a guarantee to happen.
“Wisconsin is still my leader,” said Griffin. “I am not sure on what the chances are I commit on my visit, but it is a possibility with my parents going there to see everything. I am not sure if a commitment is going to happen then and there. I want to visit a few more schools before I make a decision. It is a possibility I could commit depending on things go, but I am not definitely going there to make a decision or anything like that.”
A possible decision could on the horizon for Badgers fans, but they will have to wait a little longer to hear the news with Griffin. He updates the latest with his timeline and where he possibly could be looking to visit after Wisconsin as well.
“I won’t be committing on Sunday with Byron (Stewart), but me and my family will be having a party for my official commitment day and that will be October 12,” said Griffin. “There is a chance I still commit on the visit, but if it was to happen, I wouldn’t announce it to the public or anything because I still want to take a few of my visits and like I said I will be having my party on the 12th.
“Kansas and Mississippi State I have heard from lately. I have been offered by them, so those are the only new schools I have heard from. I possibly could be visiting Tulane, Mississippi State and Central Florida. I might take a few unofficials as well and we have a bye week next week, so I am going to go somewhere for that. I am not sure yet where, but I am probably going to take an unofficial visit to one of those schools and check it out.”
