Five out of the seven official visitors that came into Madison were already committed to Wisconsin, but the Badgers were looking to solidify each commitment and eliminate any amount of wavering.
Of the committed quintet, it could be argued that Miami Gulliver Prep senior outside linebacker Dominic Sheppard was the one on the fence. Eager to get into town to see what the Badgers had to offer, Sheppard got lots of love from the coaching staff.
"It went good,” Sheppard told BadgerNation. “We just walked around and they showed us the campus and we watched the game. I talked to (Head Coach) Gary Andersen and Coach (Dave) Aranda. They said they need me bad. I like their style and performance they give off."
Sheppard was one of the most highly regarded prospects on campus as the No. 66 ranked outside linebacker and a three star recruit, so like most had the red carpet rolled out for him.
“My favorite part of the visit was the game and the atmosphere,” said Sheppard. “I liked that the best because it was crazy and it gets packed there.”
Sheppard committed to Wisconsin on July 29 over a host of other offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State, and has considered taking other visits. Did this official visit make him reconsider traveling to other campuses?
“My commitment to Wisconsin is better after this visit and I am solid,” said Sheppard, “but I do plan on taking other visits.”
