One of the best defenders in the state is Stevens Point senior defensive end Andrew Ruzek. While many schools chased to land him, he decided to ultimately stay home and accept a preferred walk-on offer to Wisconsin Saturday.
"I want to play at the highest level of football possible and that's what Wisconsin is, plus I know I can work hard and earn a scholarship in a couple years," Ruzek told BadgerNation. "The preferred walk on offer gave me the opportunity to earn it. Wisconsin has always been my hometown team, so when I got the opportunity, I jumped on it."
At 6-6 and 240 pounds, Ruzek has the frame and drive to earn that scholarship down the line and definitely showed he had what it took to play on the next level when he impressed the Badger coaches at Wisconsin's summer camp.
What should Badgers fans expect from Ruzek when he dons the red and white?
"I plan on bringing a great work ethic and to be really coachable," said Ruzek. "I'm just really excited for what the coaches can teach me and how I can develop.”
Ruzek is rated a three-star prospect and the No.77 defensive end in the country by Scout.com.
