Edwards Takes in Madison

Four-star tight end David Edwards talks about his trip to Madison to check out the Badgers Saturday on a snowy evening.

Wisconsin landed the commitment of Downers Grove North (Ill.) quarterback turned tight end David Edwards during his senior season, and he made the trip up to Madison for Saturday's game.

"I didn't get to do that much honestly, I had basketball so I missed most of the recruiting stuff," Edwards said. "I showed up about an hour and a half before kickoff so we ate and watched warmups, saw Wisconsin dominate and then went in the locker room after the game."

One thing that Edwards is always paying attention to its he way that the Badgers offense takes on their opponents.

"I like the physicality that Wisconsin plays with," Edwards said. "I also love how the offense doesn't try to get too fancy. They line up and try to pound you until you give up. Sam catching a touchdown pass is always cool because they target tight ends in the end zone."

That type of offense is a familiar one for Edwards, it is similar to the scheme that Downers Grove North played, where he played a very mobile quarterback role for the last four years. Another thing that the four-star tight end prospect is excited about with the Badgers is the atmosphere he will be playing in.

"Wisconsin is always a great atmosphere," Edwards said. "What I really liked was seeing how much fun the players had yesterday when they were all on the field during the jump around. Something I look forward to next year."

In the meantime, Edwards is focusing on his basketball season which opens up a week from today.
