Kanz Checks Out Wisconsin

One of the better juniors in the 2016 in-state recruiting class, Luxemburg (WI) Casco junior offensive tackle Spencer Kanz takes an unofficial visit to Wisconsin Saturday.

One of the state’s next upcoming impressive offensive lineman is Luxemburg (WI) Casco junior offensive tackle Spencer Kanz. The Badgers have already made early contact and got him up for an unofficial visit for Wisconsin’s 59-24 victory Saturday.

“The visit was good,” Kanz told BadgerNation. “I had a lot of fun. I got to bring a couple of my teammates/friends with and they also had a great time. We got to go through the football building and see the weight room and go on the field. I didn’t really get a chance to talk personally with any of the coaches, but I understand they are busy and have to lock down 2015 recruits first.”

The 6-6, 275-pound physical tackle felt the highlight of his trip was getting up close and seeing phenom running back Melvin Gordon make history and seeing the offensive line open up big lanes to run through.

“I would say getting to go on the field for warmups was my favorite part,” said Kanz. “I’ve been to a couple Badger games before, but I’ve never had that perspective. I also saw Melvin make history and watching the offensive line dominate.

Kanz is still waiting for his first offer, but he has received interest from Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue in the Big Ten and Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, Western Michigan and Wyoming.

“I’m very interested in Wisconsin,” said Kanz. “The things I like about them is their style of play, they like to pound the ball and that fits my style very well and I think I could thrive in that type of situation.”

Having already visited Eastern Illinois, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois, Kanz plans on taking trips to Northwestern and Western Michigan.
