Many were taken off guard when head coach Gary Andersen abruptly left for Oregon State, including Ashburn (VA) Broad Run senior cornerback Chuck Davis. A main defensive back target for Wisconsin while Andersen was the UW coach, the three-star prospect reflects back to his reaction during that time of turmoil.
“My reaction to the news of Coach Andersen leaving was shocking,” Davis told BadgerNation. “Now I don’t know where Coach Beatty is going to end up, so I don’t know. I wasn’t expecting it.”
The 5-9, 170-pound corner, who sits as the No. 144 ranked cornerback in the nation by Scout.com, had the Badgers near the top of his recruitment for many weeks. With the loss of Andersen, where is his interest level in Wisconsin?
“I haven’t been in contact with Wisconsin as much as in the past,” said Davis. “I am not as much interested, but there is still slight interest. Yeah, having Coach Andersen leave hurts Wisconsin’s chances, but not that much.”
