Wisconsin Stock Report - The Committed

As the 2015 recruiting cycle nears its end, Scout.com takes a look at where things stand with the soft verbal commits in Wisconsin's 2015 recruiting class with national signing day less than a week away.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Jordan Stevenson is considered a soft verbal commit because he took an official visit to Oklahoma State two weekends ago and hasn’t officially announced his final intentions. However, a source close to Stevenson indicated that the four-star tailback with sign with UW on signing day. UW head coach Paul Chryst and running back coach Thomas Brown visited Stevenson on Wednesday, a meeting that went very well and left UW feeling good about where they stand.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Titus Booker announced his attentions to commit to Wisconsin after canceling official visits to Iowa and Kentucky the final two weekends before signing day. That changed this week when Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh came calling with a scholarship and an official visit invitation, the latter of which Booker accepted. The big difference is Michigan offered Booker as a tailback and he reportedly wasn’t blown away by the offer. He wants to take to visit to hear what the Wolverines have to offer, but Booker wants to play cornerback in college, which is exactly what UW is offering him.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda being retained by Chryst appeared to be the move that would lock up Griffin, but the three-star linebacker – the top defensive player on UW’s recruiting board, according to Aranda – has continued to stay open minded. He’s taken an official to South Florida and hosted the entire coaching staff Wednesday before heading on an official visit to Vanderbilt this weekend. He’s also hosted Chryst and the entire UW defensive staff.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Wisconsin survived last weekend without Pickard committing to Michigan on his official visit, but the Badgers aren’t out of the woods yet. Still contending with the Wolverines and Syracuse, we’re told Pickard is listening to the three coaching staffs this week before sitting down and making his final decision before signing day. It feels like a long shot to keep Pickard, but the Badgers have had success dodging a few landmines along the way.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Sheppard has always maintained he was going to take other visits after he committed to the Badgers in July. Even after his Badgers official visit, Sheppard said, “I’m solid, but I do plan on taking other visits.” Sheppard took an official visit to Illinois last weekend, had an in-home visit with Virginia and will take an official visit to Charlottesville this weekend. Why Virginia? Because former UW recruiting coach Chris Beatty is the Cavs’ new running back coach and have created a prime situation for a flip if things go well this weekend for him.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Another prospect who committed to Wisconsin with the intention of taking other visits, Howard has given both Illinois and Missouri strong looks since Gary Andersen resigned. Illinois and Wisconsin are making late pushes, including the Badgers having an in-home visit with him Tuesday, but Scout.com’s Derek Young has heard from sources that the Tigers’ coaching staff feels very confidence with where they stand. Silver lining? Howard was going to announce his commitment Tuesday but delayed his decision. Perhaps Wisconsin has given him something to think about? Of course, he could be waiting to commit to the Missouri staff in person when they visit with him today.
