Wisconsin Stock Report

As the 2015 recruiting cycle nears its end, BadgerNation takes a look at where things stand with the targets remaining on Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst's board with national signing day being three days away.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Now in possession of a full scholarship offer from Wisconsin, Jake Whalen’s decision has become a debate between Iowa at linebacker and Badgers at fullback. Taking an official visit last weekend to Iowa City, Whalen took an official visit this past weekend and proudly stated he “love(d) it in Madison.”

Recruiting Stock Report:

Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda being retained by Chryst appeared to be the move that would lock up Griffin, but the three-star linebacker – the top defensive player on UW’s recruiting board, according to Aranda – has continued to stay open minded. He’s taken an official to South Florida, hosted the entire Bulls coaching staff Wednesday and took an official visit to Vanderbilt this past weekend. He’s also hosted Chryst and the entire UW defensive staff. Griffin has plenty of options with signing day on the horizon.

Recruiting Stock Report:

A former Wisconsin cornerback commit, Griffin told us last week that there is still interest from him in Wisconsin and was curious if his scholarship was still available. Considering the Badgers have lost a handful of cornerback commits and targets this past week, the door might be open for Griffin to return. He’s on an official visit to Virginia this weekend and will likely talk to UW defensive coordinator Dave Aranda before signing day to get an update. Something to watch.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Wisconsin got in a little late with Hall, but have made up ground on schools like Indiana, Missouri and Nebraska. Although rated an outside linebacker by Scout.com, Hall can also play on the interior and could help fill multiple voids left in this recruiting class. One of the big reasons for that idea is the size that Hall has added to his frame. Although listed at 205 pounds in the Scout.com database he says that he’s closer to 220-pounds now and that he’s ‘married to the weight room.’

Wisconsin had him on campus Thursday (flanked by Chryst, Aranda, running back coach Thomas Brown, recruiting coordinator Ben Strickland and graduate assistant Josh Oglesby at basketball practice) and Friday. Badgers are in a battle with a number of teams. Brown has shown to be an ace recruiter but it’s hard to know exactly where Hall stands.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Wisconsin was all set to welcome Davis on campus this weekend and were probably expecting a verbal commitment. Instead Davis went to Illinois, which appears to all but eliminate the Badgers in the race.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Spending the weekend in Michigan instead of Wisconsin, Adams – a current Rutgers commit – will likely not commit to a Badgers campus he’s never seen in person.

Recruiting Stock Report:

Farrar took his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend and is planning on a signing day decision. He’s been very quiet in his recruitment, so we don’t know how good his Wisconsin visit was two weekends ago. Everything we’ve been told suggests Farrar is heading to South Bend.

Recruiting Stock Report:

The official visits have gone up for Sheppard and the dialogue between the three-star linebacker commit and Wisconsin has decreased dramatically since the coaching turnover. A Chris Beatty recruit, Sheppard appears headed for Virginia where UW’s former wide receiver recruit now coaches running back. Illinois may or may not be in the mix, as well, which is where he visited two weeks ago.
