Badgers Give Banks' First FBS Offer

After being active in the state of Maryland, new Wisconsin secondary coach Daronte Jones is focusing his efforts in Georgia, having offered Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek junior cornerback Korey Banks.

While Wisconsin lost one of its top recruiters in running back coach Thomas Brown, especially in the state of Georgia, the Badgers don’t want to lose their presence in the state.

With secondary coach Daronte Jones targeting numerous prospects on the East Coast and the South, the Badgers recently offered a sleeper defensive back in Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek junior cornerback Korey Banks, his first FBS offer.

“Me and Coach Jones spoke yesterday, he told me they wanted to offer and that he would like to see my transcripts,” said Banks. “He also told me that he would call the head coach to wrap up the process. Of course since it’s an offer from Wisconsin, my reaction was excited. I am very blessed and humble to receive this offer from a school with such rich winning tradition.”

The 6-0, 170-pound Banks also holds an offer from Mercer, but getting an opportunity to play for the Big Ten West Division champions definitely caught his attention.

“I am very interested in Wisconsin,” said Banks. “It’s a school that would definitely be high in my recruitment. I want to visit this summer.”
