This Week's Bracket
Big Ten (8)
Big 12 (7)
Big East (6)
Missouri Valley (2)
Mountain West (2)
March is nearly upon us and it certainly feels like it. The bubble is packed and debates about who deserves to be in are in full swing. Plenty of teams had games with bracket implications over the last week, so let’s take a look at where a few of them stand.
Oregon started Pac-12 play 4-4 but have since won six of seven to move back onto the right side of the bubble. Its win over Utah on Sunday will be the Ducks’ signature win, and its recent work should be enough to keep them in the field, barring a major flameout.
North Carolina State has seemingly been on the bubble all winter. A stretch of five losses in six games in late January/early February could have been a dagger. A win at Louisville injected some life in the Wolfpack and their upset win at North Carolina vaulted them into the field this week.
Two Big Ten teams - Purdue and Illinois - are living life on the bubble as we near tournament time. Illinois boasts wins over Baylor, Maryland and Michigan State and resides in the “Last 4 In” for now.
Purdue has a nice list of wins that includes N.C. State, Ohio State and a sweep of Indiana, but home losses to North Florida and Gardner-Webb are really holding the Boilermakers back. Purdue has been a nice surprise, but they will need a strong finish to have hope on Selection Sunday.
From the ranks of the non-power conferences: Tulsa has lost hold of the projected AAC auto-bid but still has a spot in the Last 4 In. Davidson, Rhode Island and Boise State and BYU are all under consideration right now, but these are likely teams that will need to win a conference tournament to get in.
Keep an eye on @ScoutBrackets as the bubble continues to change heading into March.
