Jean-Baptiste UW's Latest Florida Target

With the state of Florida being very kind to the University of Wisconsin in recent years, especially the last two recruiting cycles, Badgers head coach Paul Chryst is continuing to target Florida prospects, including Coconut Creek junior outside linebacker Alexy Jean-Baptiste.

Having signed nine prospects from Florida in the last two recruiting cycles, it’s evident that the state of Florida has become a main recruiting focus for the University of Wisconsin.

With so much talent in the state and the Badgers building relationships, new UW head coach Paul Chryst is looking to continue to aggressively recruiting the state and made a move on Coconut Creek junior outside linebacker Alexy Jean-Baptiste.

“My coach told me about the offer when I was at the Nike Opening,” Jean-Baptiste told BadgerNation. “I was happy that I got that offer. I like them, but all the schools I have offers from are all on the same level. I know it’s a good school.”

Those schools the 6-2, 205-pound prospect was referring to was Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, NC State, North Carolina and West Virginia, to name a few.

With so many suitors on the table for him to pick and choose, sometimes a connection can give a program that little edge they need and the Badgers have one in former cornerback Peniel Jean.

“I know Peniel Jean and I’m tight with him,” said Jean-Baptiste. “I have known him from going to church together as kids. He does talk to me about Wisconsin. He tells me how the fans are and how good the school is as well.”
