Prendergast Recaps Wisconsin Visit

With four scholarship offers already in his possession, La Grange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy junior defensive end Matt Prendergast is starting to get attention from power five conferences, including the University of Wisconsin.

Appearing to making Midwest recruiting a priority going for, the University of Wisconsin has welcomed made visitors from around the area during the first two weeks of spring practices, including La Grange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy junior defensive end Matt Prendergast.

“It was great,” Prendergast told BadgerNation. “I really liked it. I saw all the facilities, watched practice and talked with Coach Turner and Coach Strickland. They said that they really like me and that they will be down to see me in the spring. I am very interested in Wisconsin. It seems to be a very good fit for me.

“I really liked the overall feel of the school and not only the football aspect. Obviously the academics are great and the campus was really nice as well.”

The 6-3, 245-pound defensive lineman ranks as the No. 72 defensive end in the country by Scoutcom. While he got to take in quite a few things during his time in Madison, Prendergast said the highlight of the trip was getting to further establish his relationship with tight ends coach Mikey Turner.

“My favorite thing was probably talking with Coach Turner,” said Prendergast. “It was just good to get to meet him and know where I stand with them. Our relationship is good so far and I like him a lot. He’s a really laid back guy, who knows his stuff.”

Prendergast currently holds offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Toledo and Western Michigan.
