Panasiuk Sees Badgers Interest Rising

Roselle (Ill.) Lake Park junior defensive tackle Mike Panasiuk continues to wait and see if the University of Wisconsin will extend a scholarship offer. After his unofficial visit Sunday, an offer might not be far off.

The Badgers were back at work with another spring practice Sunday, and Wisconsin brought in quite a few visitors to take it all in. Roselle (Ill.) Lake Park junior defensive tackle Mike Panasiuk has been getting more and more interest from the Badgers and wanted to see what they had to offer. It didn’t disappoint.

“It was great,” Panasiuk told BadgerNation. “I got to see the campus a little and the facilities. I also had a chance to meet some of the coaches. I talked to the defensive line coach and head coach. We talked about football and how they know I’m a perfect fit for Wisconsin. I also got to talk with Coach Tibesar about football and recruiting.”

The 6-4, 285-pound Panasiuk holds offers from Army, Bowling Green, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Penn State, Syracuse, Toledo, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan. He also ranks as the No. 35 defensive tackle in the nation and a three star recruit by Scout, but did talks of a Badgers offer ever come about during the visit?

“They did talk about offering,” said Panasiuk. “They’re coming to Lake Park Thursday. They want to talk with my coach and counselor. I think that has something to do with it.”

After the completion of this Badger visit, Panasiuk definitely has seen their standing with him vault up and plans to check out Madison again in the future.

“I’m definitely interested,” said Panasiuk. “After seeing the campus and being around for practice, I enjoyed it. The campus sits between two amazing lakes. Those views are perfect and also the academics. I definitely plan on coming out to see the best sports town again.”
