Asked what defines him on the football field, Deerfield Beach (FL) High safety James Pierre describes himself as a big speedy safety who likes to hit hard. No wonder he’s generating plenty of division 1 interest during the spring evaluation period.
“I have good awareness,” Pierre told Scout.com. “I like to know where the ball is at before it goes. I had five interceptions.”
Of the three schools that offered in the last 24 hours, Pierre said Wisconsin is the school he is planning on visiting the soonest, hoping to camp there in the coming weeks.
“My coach told me about the offer,” said Pierre. “They are a successful program. They’ve gotten a lot of kids to the NFL and they are a pretty good academic school. That have a good business program. After my life football, if I don’t make it to the pros, I can be set for life (with their education). They have good people that have fun. No other school that is recruiting me is like that.”
“I’d like to go somewhere different,” said Pierre. “Sometimes I think I’ll get homesick, but I think I’ll be fine.”
Playing last season around 170 pounds, Pierre has added roughly five more pounds to his frame and hopes to push his weight between 190 and 195 before the start of his senior season.
“I’ve working hard on getting faster and getting bigger,” said Pierre. “My mom is cooking everything, so I know I am eating good.”
