Series Notes

Wisconsin’s only meeting with a school currently in the Sun Belt Conference was a 69-13 win over New Mexico State in Madison in 1962, when the Aggies were an independent.

Troy is 0-7 all-time against the current members of the Big Ten. Troy’s last game against a Big Ten school came in 2008 at Ohio State.

Wisconsin wide receiver coach Ted Gilmore and Troy defensive coordinator Vic Koenning worked together at Wyoming from 1997-87. Gilmore was the receivers coach and Koenning the defensive coordinator. Koennig also served in the same capacity at Illinois in 2010 and 2011 with Paul Chryst was the offensive coordinator. <.p>

Wisconsin Note to Consider

Over its last seven nonconference home games, Wisconsin has allowed its opponents to score an average of just 6.7 points, including three shutouts.

Chryst’s last 13 games at Camp Randall – 12 as offensive coordinator and one as head coach – the Badgers have averaged 54.7 points per game and scored at least 50 points eight times.

With three interceptions against Miami University, Wisconsin recorded its first three interception game since picking off three passes at Illinois on Nov. 19, 2011.

Troy Notes to Consider

Over the past three seasons, senior wide receiver Bryan Holmes has 16 catches over 30 yards, including two against NC State in the season opener. His total leads the Sun Belt and is the third most in the country over the past three seasons.

Quarterback Brandon Silvers hasn’t thrown an interception in the last 29 quarters. That number leads the country, while his 155 consecutive pass attempts without a pick is second in the country (West Virginia’s Skyler Howard is first with 161 attempts).

Troy recorded six sacks and 15 tackles for loss in the first two games; it took until game five last season to reach six sacks and three games to reach 15 TFLs.
