While Michigan is still the favorite school to land the four-star prospect, Kelly-Powell thinks highly of Wisconsin’s program, academics and the campus life.
“I was totally surprised when I first stepped on campus,” Kelly-Powell told BadgerNation. “The building are so old and historic. There’s a lot of history there and the fans respect it. They take pride in their history and it makes me honor what they've done in the past. That rubs off on me and it would be an honor to carry on the tradition. The coaches preach about the past, and most of them are alumni, so for them to come back and coach, it says a lot.”
Holding offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and many more, Kelly-Powell insists he doesn't have any top schools as of now. Holding a 4.0 GPA at school, Kelly-Powell plans on studying business in college, so a school with a strong business program is important in his decision-making process.
Leaving the option open of not announcing his decision close to national signing day, Kelly-Powell said he plans on making return visit to Madison for a game this fall.
“I’m just going to take my time” he said. “There is a lot of great colleges out there and I want to take my time. If the choice was that easy I’d already be committed. Wisconsin makes the choice harder, and they’ll be in my decision until the end. The coaches are phenomenal and the players take pride in what they do. The practice we saw was really cool.”
