Wisconsin linebacker Dallas Jeanty will transfer from the program

Redshirt freshman linebacker Dallas Jeanty opens up about his upcoming departure from Wisconsin

MADISON – Dallas Jeanty's tenure at the University of Wisconsin is over.

An early enrollee in the 2016 recruiting class, the Fort Lauderdale native said he and head coach Paul Chryst believd both sides needed a fresh start during a late-season meeting.

“It was a few things that put me in this direction,” Jeanty told BadgerNation. “Just being a freshman in college, I didn’t prioritize things and make sure I was on time for the things.”

Even with a loaded depth chart ahead of him, Jeanty said he would still be at Wisconsin competing if his issues didn’t arise.

“It is a real loaded depth chart here at inside linebacker, but that wasn’t something that fazed me or I was thinking about,” Jeanty said. “I loved Wisconsin, so I was willing to stick it out. Guys have waited their turn in the past and it worked out great.”

A former three-star recruit, Jeanty amassed over 40 offers in the recruiting process. He said he’s currently looking at UConn, Jacksonville State, Miami (OH), Navy, Syracuse and UCF but had no timeline for his decision.

“I definitely loved my time at Wisconsin,” Jeanty said. “I think this place is special. This is one of the best places in the world honestly, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me. It’s time for a fresh start.”

Having his scholarship through spring semester, Jeanty is taking currently taking 15 credits and will join his new program in time for summer workouts.
