With a win over UW-Milwaukee, the Badgers not only improved to a .500 record but beat the Panthers for the first time since 2000. The Badgers (0-1 Big Ten, 6-6 overall) knocked off the Panthers 1-0 Wednesday night in Milwaukee. The Panthers move to 7-4 overall (they are 2-0 in the Horizon League).
Junior midfielder David Martinez notched Wisconsin's goal late in the first period off an assist from junior forward/midfielder Nick Van Sicklen. Junior goaltender Eric Hanson had six saves in his first game since the team's 2-3 loss to Dayton Sept. 21. The shutout was his third for the season, tops in the Big Ten. UWM goaltender Kirk Thode also had six saves.
The Badgers next play Penn State on the road this Sunday.
