Speedster could make decision soon

Atlanta receiver Corey Thompson has ruled Wisconsin out of his recruiting search.

"I'm not looking at Wisconsin or Oklahoma State anymore. I'm going to Marshall (Jan. 16) this weekend and Auburn after that," Thompson told The Insiders' Chris Pool. A big, fast, productive prospect, Thompson has also visited Wake Forest (Dec. 5) and Duke (Jan. 9)

"I've already been to Auburn, so I know what it's like over there," Thompson said. "I'm hoping after I get done with my Marshall visit, I'll be able to make a decision.

"I don't have a leader. Wake Forest, Duke, Auburn and Marshall are all equal right now.

"I just spoke with my high school coach and he said I can't go wrong with any decision I make. I'm going to college and my parents won't have to pay for it, I can't make a bad decision."

Thompson, a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder from Atlanta (Douglass) had 48 catches for 725 yards and seven touchdowns in 2003.

Thompson was scheduled to visit Wisconsin Dec. 19 but did not make the trip.

The Badgers lose out on one of the top 100 receivers in the country. UW, though, has verbal commits from three receivers - Emmanuel Spann, Terrence Nunn and Jarvis Minton - and has a dozen receivers returning from its 2003 roster.
