The Badger men's basketball team (11-3 overall, 2-1 Big Ten) took a dip in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll, falling from No. 18 to No. 19 after a heartbreaking 53-51 loss at Purdue Jan. 14. The team also slipped in the Associated Press poll, from 19 to 21.

The women's hockey team (13-4-3 overall, 9-4-1 WCHA) moved to No. 4 in the poll. More importantly, the Badgers are No. 4 in the PairWise Rankings, the best determinant of NCAA tournament berths and seeding in college hockey. Only four teams qualify for the women's hockey postseason.

The men's hockey team (14-6-6, 8-3-5), after a 2-2 tie and a 3-1 loss to Notre Dame over the weekend, moved down to No. 6 from No. 4 in both the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll and the poll. The Badger men are No. 11 in the PairWise Rankings.
