Tennis claims win over Western Michigan

Western Michigan took the doubles' point, sweeping the Badgers 3-0 but Wisconsin earned five of the six singles points to take the match.

Junior Katie McGaffigan celebrated her birthday by defeated the No. 87 player in the country, senior Frederika Girsang, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-5.  Freshman Kaylan Caiati defeated sophomore Rattiya Hiranrat 6-4 and 6-2 while sophomore Lexi Goldin, in her first match of the season, defeated senior Malena Remynse 6-4 and 6-3. Senior Shana McElroy and junior Lindsay Martin also picked up wins. Only senior Teresa Gonzaga dropped her match, losing 6-3 and 6-4 to senior Valeria Stoilova.

Wisconsin next faces Northern Illinois at home Jan. 30 before heading to No. 21 Notre Dame Feb. 1.
