The Badgers are tied atop the Big Ten at 4-1 in conference play, but all four wins have come at home. The team takes its show on the road for only the second time in Big Ten action this week.

Fresh off its second Big Ten win of the season, 69-53 over Northwestern Sunday, the Badger women's basketball team faces the daunting task of taking on two of the conference's best teams back-to-back with another, Michigan State, looming early next week. (standings)

It does not get much bigger than this, although for the Badgers that will be said a lot down the stretch. The Gophers are surging and after splitting with No.1 North Dakota last weekend stand just four points behind Wisconsin in the WCHA standings. The Badgers are tied for third, still chasing North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth, who they also must play during a treacherous stretch run.

After taking three points from three-time defending national champion Minnesota-Duluth two weekends ago, the Badger women skate back on the ice for a trip to St. Cloud, Minn. Wisconsin is currently in second place, just four points behind Minnesota. (standings)

Wisconsin defeated Northern Illinois Friday in its first dual meet of the season.


Women's Tennis: Wisconsin v. Northern Illinois (Nielsen Tennis Stadium), Friday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 p.m. and Wisconsin at Notre Dame, Sunday, Feb. 1 at 11:00 a.m.


Senior Shana McElroy won her 70th match and Teresa Gonzaga, also a senior, won her 60th in a match against Drake Friday.  The Badgers defeated Drake 7-0 and topped Western Michigan 5-2 Sunday.


Wrestling: Wisconsin at Minnesota, Friday, Jan. 30 at 7:00 p.m. (Fox Sports Net tape-delay following the live coverage of the men's hockey game) and Wisconsin v. Penn State (UW Field House), Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m.


The Badger grapplers have been climbing the rankings this season (No. 13 in last week's Intermat poll), but will be challenged this week by the Gophers (No. 12) and Nittany Lions (6).

Men's and Women's Swimming: Big Ten Quad Duals in Madison, Wis. (UW Natatorium), Friday, Jan. 30 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 31 at Noon.


Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois will take part in the meet, the first at the Natatorium in more than two months.


Women's and Men's Track: UNI Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa Saturday, Jan. 31


Field events begin at 11:30 a.m.; running events at 1 p.m. The Badger women will field a complete team at the Invite, while the Wisconsin men's team sends only its heptathletes.
