Grapplers falter after big lead

No. 13 Wisconsin built a 12-0 lead after three matches Sunday afternoon but lost all but one the rest of the way, falling 24-15 to No. 6 Penn State.

Senior Ralph DeNisco's pin at 174 gave the Badgers a seemingly commanding 12-0 lead. Wisconsin, though, lost three straight decisions, including a major decision at Heavyweight to make it 12-10. After sophomore Tom Clum momentarily quelled the rout at 125, the Nittany Lions rattled off the last three matches to close out the win.

Irish too much for Wisconsin

The Badger women's tennis team got all it asked for Sunday, losing 7-0 at Notre Dame. Wisconsin lost all six singles matches in two sets and lost all three doubles matches.

The Badgers' closest competitors were the doubles duo of junior Lindsay Martin and sophomore Katie McGaffigan, who took a 5-3 lead before losing 8-5 to freshmen twins Catrina and Christian Thompson.
