Suter one of top NHL-affiliated prospects

Freshman defenseman Ryan Suter was named the No. 6 NHL-affiliated prospect in The Hockey News' Future Watch list this week.

Suter, who has three goals and 13 assists with the Badgers, was the No. 7 pick by the Nashville Predators in the NHL Entry Draft last year. Two fellow Western Collegiate Hockey Association athletes join him in the top 10. Minnesota sophomore left winger Thomas Vanek, who was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres, is No. 4, while sophomore center Zach Parise, drafted by the New Jersey Devils, is ranked fifth.

Suter and Parise both played with the 2004 U.S. National Junior Team that won the gold medal in January.
