The Niagara Purple Eagles could not get off the ground as the Badger women's hockey team completely dominated over them Saturday afternoon in an 8-1 win.
Sophomore forward Nikki Burish had two goals and an assist and freshman forward Lindsay Macy, who had a hat trick Friday, added a goal and two assists Saturday. The team relied on a number of contributors to make the big plays and five other Badger skaters had two-point games Saturday.
Junior forward Jackie Friesen, senior forward Meghan Hunter, freshman forward Sara Bauer, sophomore forward Sharon Cole and senior forward Karen Rickard, Burish and Macy all had goals in the scoring barrage.
Wisconsin sophomore goaltender Meghan Horras had nine saves in the first two periods and sophomore goalie Jessica Bernal subbed in, picking up another five saves while allowing one goal. Wisconsin outshot Niagara (5-21-3 overall) 46-15 Saturday and 92-22 for the weekend.
The Badgers are 20-5-3 overall, earning their fourth-straight season with at least 20 wins. They will face Ohio State next weekend on the road.
