The women's hockey team likely ended its season with a 5-4 overtime win over Ohio State in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Final Five Sunday at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. After losing 3-1 to Minnesota-Duluth Saturday, Wisconsin defeated Ohio State in the consolation match to claim third place in the conference tourney. The Badgers finished second in the WCHA during the regular season.
Senior forward Karen Rickard had the overtime goal just more than two minutes into the sudden-death overtime. In regulation, freshman forward Lindsay Macy had two goals and an assist and senior forward Meghan Hunter and freshman forward Sara Bauer also had goals.
Wisconsin led off the scoring with three first-period goals but Ohio State matched Wisconsin's efforts in the second period with three goals of its own.
Sophomore goaltender Meghan Horras had 22 saves while Ohio State goalie Melissa Glaser had 24 saves.
With the win, Wisconsin finishes 25-6-3 overall. The Badgers were 18-5-1 during the WCHA regular season. The team is finished unless it is selected for the NCAA Frozen Four. The tournament pits only the top four teams in the nation against one another. UW is currently ranked No. 5.
