The state of Pennsylvania has some very good running backs this year and one of the best is in the central part of the state. Mikell Simpson has already garnered two major offers and with his size, speed, strength, and athleticism, more will be on the way soon.

Simpson, from Harrisburg (Pa.) High School, has already been offered by Michigan State and North Carolina. He is also hearing from Pittsburgh, Michigan, Virginia, Maryland, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, West Virginia and Iowa. One school noticeably absent is the closest major program: Penn State.

"I haven't heard from them at all," said Simpson, whose first name is pronounced MY-kell.

Simpson has very good size at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. He runs a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, bench presses 280 pounds, squats 450, and has a 34-inch vertical jump. He also plays basketball and runs track, specifically the 100 meters, 200, 400 relay, and 1600 relay. His best 100 time is 10.8 seconds. But he isn't just a physical specimen. He is also a football player.

"I also play defensive back. I'm the punter. I return punts and I return kicks," laughs the very affable Simpson.

Simpson was at Pitt's Junior Blue Chip Day April 2. It was his second trip to Pittsburgh, as he came to the Pitt-Miami game last season.

Speaking of Miami, that was Simpson's favorite team growing up, but he now lists his favorites as Virginia, Michigan, and Maryland.

Simpson will be attending the Nike Combine at Penn State and will go to two or three other camps, though he hasn't decided on where yet.

Simpson has a 2.8 grade-point average.
