Junior shortstop nets first Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Junior shortstop Kris Zacher was named Big Ten Softball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in Wisconsin's seven games last week. This is the first time she has earned the honor.

 

Zacher hit .500 (11 of 22) and had three games with multiple hits. She had six walks as well for a .607 on-base percentage and three stolen bases. She also racked up a slugging percentage of .773 and scored 10 runs. Zacher had two walk-off hits and a home run against Loyola Wednesday, two runs against Northwestern Friday and another home run against Michigan State Sunday. She has a conference-high 32 runs scored and is fourth in the Big Ten with a .368 batting average.
