Bruckler named MVP at team awards banquet

Wisconsin junior goaltender Bernd Bruckler won the Spike Carlson MVP Award at the men's hockey team's annual banquet Saturday in Madison.


An All-American, Bruckler set several school records, including a 2.09 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. He was a first-team all-Western Collegiate Hockey Association selection and was the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA East Regional in Albany, N.Y.


Several other Wisconsin players were honored at the banquet:

Most Competitive Player: sophomore forward Adam Burish

Scholastic Award: senior forward Rene Bourque
7th-Man Award: sophomore forward John Funk

Most Consistent Player: sophomore forward Ryan MacMurchy
Community Service Award: senior defenseman Dan Boeser
